"I just don't understand why Green has the free pass when Orange has more right to it."
— Max objecting to Purple's plan in Fill and Spill

Among Max's diverse talents are his ability to play basketball, the guitar and a mean game of chess — and he can use a skateboard to walk! Although he admits he is not very athletic, he believes he has a particular talent to accommodate for this and for his short stature of 5 feet 1 inch — a gift for gab. His strategy for winning Endurance is to make friends with the most athletic and physically strong players. That way, if they don't see him as an obvious threat, he can fly under the radar and grab the top spot!

Max Peter McFarland is a former contestant of Endurance: High Sierras. He competed alongside his partner, Kristine Turner, as the Orange Team.

Endurance[]

At fourteen years old, Max was one of twenty new teens selected to be a part of the fifth season of Endurance.

Max was one of the 16 contestants that survived the Right to Stay. In the partner selection, he wanted Kristine, because she was shorter than him. He noted that the controversy regarding Taylor as the others were planning of pairing her with Garrett (neither of whom wanted to be paired with each other). He claims ever other girl is spoken for and believed she was causing drama. Max didn't win the partner game but was eventually paired with Kristine by Aric and Lilly. While Taylor was visibly upset at this point, they choose to use their pick to pair Connor with Darci together. In Unwind, they were the sixth team to cross the rope though to Ike and Taylor's argument about which color they wanted, Max and Kristine were able to claim Orange spot while also essentially they would remain in the game.

In Hot Potato, his Orange Team grew close to the Purple Team, which allowed Max to hear about Dakota's plans, including that of the team switch. When the twist was announced before the challenge, he stared directly at Taylor, because he knew that she didn't like being partnered with Ike and wanted a new teammate. He also noted how Taylor and Ike didn't want to make any enemies, but was complicit in splitting them apart.

In Move it Along, Orange came in second in the challenge, and was spared from the Samadhi. At the beginning of Walk the Plank, Max looked confident, but over time, water started to get into his grip, which worsened his hold on the plank. Orange was the second team eliminated from the challenge, but were spared from the Temple of Fate by virtue of their alliance.

In Fill and Spill, Max was one of the last two hanging on, when Dakota promised him that "he'd do good" if Max let go. He eventually did, granting Purple the win, but Max quickly regretted it when he realized there was a piece up for grabs. Moreso was Purple's power over the superteams, in which they planned to put Green on the rival superteam to keep them safe. Max objected to this, saying that because he let go in the challenge, Orange should be given the free ride. Purple ultimately picked Orange to be on their superteam, and the question of safety was smothered when they won Superboats the following day. However, Max tried to convince Red and Purple to send Green up with Blue, rather than Yellow.

After losing It's a Drag, knowing that they would go to Temple with Blue, Max came up with an idea of a fake Temple strategy, which he would tell Dakota and have him inform Taylor. It involved Orange picking water the whole time, which Taylor was doubtful about, seeing that Dakota lied to her before. In the first round, Orange picked fire to Blue's water, showing that it was a ruse, though they switched elements in the second round. In the third round, after Blue defeated them and Taylor sniped back at them, he told her that it was just a game.

Orange gave their Strength piece to red, and Max voted for Connor to get the advantage in All Tied Up.

Post-Endurance:[]

After graduating from college, Max spent some time traveling the world, before returning to Kansas City and making music.
