This New Yorker says his life consists of sports, eating and sleeping. He’s a huge hockey fan and has been named MVP of his hockey team for the past two years. He’s also in a band and plays the same-type electric guitar that was used by Jimi Hendrix. Even though he has an "A" average, Jonathan says that without school, his life would be perfect!

Jonathan Claymen Lebowitz is a former contestant and finalist on Endurance: Tehachapi. He competed alongside Daniela Bustamante as the Purple Team.

Endurance[]

Jonathan was one of the 14 contestants to make it through the Right to Stay. In the partner selection, he was paired up with Daniela, much to the dismay of both of them. However, they managed to get along well enough to win Raft Pull, much to the surprise of everyone. They decided to send Blue and Gray to temple in order to break up their alliance.

Despite this, and Jonathan placing 3rd in Drop Out, they were placed on the weaker superteam with Orange and Blue, During Super Stumped though, the Red-Yellow-Green superteam made a costly mistake when they put a plank on top of another while most of the members were standing on the top one. This allowed the Purple-Orange-Blue superteam to get a surprise victory. The victory was bittersweet for Jonathan because he was very close to Isaac (Green) and Chris (Yellow) and his superteam would have to send at least one of them to temple. He made a deal with his superteam that as long as Red was one of the two teams sent, he would let them pick choose who the second team goes. They agreed with the plan and sent Red and Yellow. Jonathan apologized to Chris before he left, saying that the superteams messed up their alliance plans. As Red won at temple, Yellow was eliminated. To the surprise of Jonathan and Isaac in the next episode, Yellow choose to give their piece to Red instead of one of the teams within the alliance.

Although they initially did well, they were weakened in Waterworks, where they placed last and would automatically sent up to the Temple of Fate. Green tried to help them by giving the samadhi to Red. In Fireball though, Purple was eliminated by Orange, thus ensuring that Purple would go to temple. Green won again and choose to send Orange. Purple was able to beat them and thus make it to the final 4.

After Green won Hang 5, Jeszie and Isaac fought over who should get the samadhi with Isaac refusing to give it to either Purple or Blue. At one point, he accused Jeszie of wanting to give the samadhi to purple, prompting jonathan to give a surprise shout. After an emotional discussion, it was Red who ended up with the samadhi. In Cubed, Purple completed the mission in 51 seconds, which was before Red was even allowed to compete, and thus guaranteed a spot in the final 4. It did however led to a tough decision on who to send because Daniela wanted to send Green due to their strength while Jonathan wanted to save them. They ultimately decided to send Blue and Red, the former being eliminated in the process.

In Create Your Own Game, Purple won their first endurance mission, finally giving them a second pyramid piece. However, in regards to the samadhi, even Jonathan thought it was a wise move to handicap Green though he mentioned it to Isaac beforehand who said he understood that it wasn't personal and recognize it was purely strategic. Jonathan still planned on Purple and Green going to the finale. However, in Circle of Trust, he was the 4th contestant to let go, and since Daniela failed to win, they were sent up to Temple. Jeszie and Isaac also fell before Daniela, meaning they would have to face their best friends at temple. Purple won, and made it to the finale, where they became E4's runners-up.

Portrayal[]

Jonathan was portrayed as someone who would keep to his friendships rather than the game. His close friendship with Isaac fueled his desire to have them in the final two together.

Quotes[]

  • "Ideally, the final two would be Green and Purple."
  • "Yeah, baby! Me and Daniela won the first Endurance 4 Temple Mission." (confessional)
  • "The friendship between me and Isaac has been great. And it has kept both of us in the game. Between Purple and Green, we've won every mission except for one. And I wasn't in danger, really, because Green was winning, and they weren't in danger as we were winning."
  • "So that's how you spell 'Tehachapi'!"
  • " I'm on fire! "

Trivia[]

  • Jonathan shares his first and last names (with the exception of the spelling) with comedian Jon Stewart, who was born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz.
  • Only contestant from New York to survive a trip to the temple of fate.
  • Jonathan placed 13th on the ProBoards Endurance Rankdown.
