Jonna Danielle Mannion (born November 10, 1988) is a former contestant and winner on Endurance. She competed alongside her partner, Aaron Thornburg, as the Blue Team.

About[]

Jonna was put in foster care at age four with a strict religious family. When she was nine years old she was adopted by her caseworker, but was kicked out when she turned 18. She later would reunite with her brother Tyson, moving into an apartment in Florida together.

Endurance[]

At thirteen years old, Jonna was selected to be a part of the first season of Endurance.

Jonna was one of the fourteen contestants who survived the Right to Stay. In the Partner Selection, Jonna noticed how everybody was against one another, because they all wanted the same partner. As a result, she isolated herself and made a List of who is going to be partnered with whom. She caught the first ball, a yellow ball, and picked Jon and Sabrina as the first team on Endurance. Afterward, Ashley caught the blue ball and paired Jonna and Aaron on the Blue Team. Jonna's list paired slightly over half of the contestants accurately, with Max ruining it when caught the Green ball and paired Trevor with Lana. Ultimately, four teams followed the list (Yellow, Blue, Red and Gray) while 3 didn't (Green, Purple and Orange).

Aaron and Jonna proved to be a strong team quickly, winning Tilt, winning them 2 pyramid pieces (putting them in the lead with 3) and the power to give another team the samadhi. Jonna was confident that Blue would end up number one. Jonna was talking with Sabrina and Ashley, claiming, despite Aaron being part of the brotherhood alliance with them, that Orange was prime contender for the samadhi as they weren't a strong team anyway. She did however consider giving it to Green or Purple. She was shown making an agreement with Jon and Christian promised her he wouldn't send her to temple if Red won. Ultimately, Blue picked Orange. When asked by JD why Orange, she simply said it came down to Orange. In Knotted Up, Blue won the temple mission. This meant that Jonna and Aaron would have to select two teams to make the trip to the temple of fate. Jonna noted that people were talking to her differently. For example, Layla said that if Purple was sent to temple, Layla would want Jonna to return the clothes she lent her. Jonna was also aware that Aaron seemed to like Sabrina and thus he refused to send Yellow to temple. Jonna tried to convince him to send them. Jonna did considered Orange as Skylar was not very sociable but, unaware of what was at temple, assumed anyone who was sent against Orange would win. She thus mentioned Gray as a candidate as she felt they were a strong team. They ultimately settled on sending Gray and Green. Jonna though did seem a bit upset over having to send teams to temple. She blamed Aaron for the decisions and apologized to the teams she sent. However, neither Lana or Jenna were convinced of her lack of agency. Like everyone else, Jonna was shocked to learn that Green survived the temple of fate instead of Gray.

The next morning, JD came to the huts. He gave Jonna the hat Max had when he went to the temple of fate which included a note for Jonna. JD asked her to read it out loud for the others. It said "Give This To The Next Team You Want to Betray". She denied betraying betraying him. She said she felt horrible and claimed it wasn't her decision to send Gray (Aaron claims she agreed to it). She gave a tearful confessionial claiming she gave in to Aaron and that she felt bad for Chelsea since she was upset with Max leaving. Regarding Green, Sabrina claimed that Jonna told Green that they were sent because they taught Green was stronger than Gray but told everyone else the opposite. Jonna predicted that if Green won the endurance mission, Blue would be targeted (which seemed to be confirmed by Lana). In Plant the Flag, Blue got 2 flags in but before they could reach their third, Yellow got all four of theirs, tying them with Blue for the pyramid piece count. Doing the survey, Jonna left when asked what team talks too much. Yellow said they would give the samadhi to a strong team but were referring to Purple instead and thus Blue was safe. In Squeeze Play, Jonna did well initially, getting the first two questions right but got the next two wrong ("which team is in charge - Yellow", "which team is going home next - purple"). Ashley got every question correct and thus Red won the temple mission. While Ashley did want to send Blue, she felt they should keep them for one more round. Thus Orange and Purple were sent instead, eliminating Purple in the process.

Jonna mentioned prior to the Waterlogged mentioned that she would give the samadhi to Green, predicting that they would target Blue if they won. The mission though proved to be one of Blue's poorest performances since most of the other teams poured water in their bucket (Lana was very pouring it slowly, savoring the moment) and thus made them the first team out. Jonna spent the mission initially going after Green who were the second team gone. She then poured water into both Red and Orange's bucket. Eventually, Yellow was the only team remaining and thus won the mission. Jonna was seen with Lana afterwards were the latter said it was a mistake putting water in Red's bucket. While Ashley, who has now wants Blue gone for being a strong, had been encouraging Yellow to give Blue the samadhi, Sabrina refused and even considered giving it to Red. Ultimately, Orange was chosen to get the samadhi. Blue performed better in Waterlogged where they outlasting the other teams, winning their second temple mission. Jonna tried to comfort Green and Orange but Skylar responded that they should feel bad because they were going to temple. Lana and Chelsea both tried to convince Jonna not to send them, pointing out that neither have won missions or had very many pieces. Despite agreeing with Lana that Yellow would drop them the moment they win a temple mission, Jonna refused to send them claiming she made a promise to them and wasn't willing to break it. Jonna confirmed to Yellow and Red that Blue wasn't going to send them. This decision was made official and so Green and Orange went to temple for the second team each. Despite the decision, she was emotional, even giving a necklace to Green. Orange was ultimately eliminated.

The next day, It was noted that Green was particularly mad at Blue after they sent them to temple again. Jonna witnessed Sabrina and Lana trying to separate a ribbon between Yellow and Red which seemed to be around the time that Yellow was considering turning against Red. Prior to the mission, Jonna said that Blue needed to win the mission or they would get the samadhi. In the House of Cards mission, Jonna had to place a bunch of bricks on Aaron's head. Yellow and Green were leading for most of the game and Green ultimately won their first mission. Jonna threw some mud at Lana, causing a playful mud fight in the process. While Blue tried to convince them to give the samadhi to Yellow, Lana made since that Blue was given the samadhi. This meant in Dial In, Blue would have to wait 15 seconds after the other teams start the mission before they could. Blue though seemed to make up for lost time as they quickly figured out most of the words before Jonna correctly guess what the question was and the correct answer (Which team was eliminated first? - Gray). Thus, Blue became the first team to overcome a samadhi and won their third temple mission. Jonna was happy to win but also sad because they would have to split the alliance with Red and Yellow since they could only save one. Jonna notes that some difficulty arises from Aaron's crush with Sabrina. Jonna ask Sabrina if she likes him and Sabrina says yes but Jonna thinks she is lying. Apparently, Sabrina told Aaron she liked him but told the others did she didn't like him. Aaron himself had difficulty decided on who to send. Ultimately, they agreed on sending Green and Yellow. Jon suspected that Jonna was the one who picked Yellow. Sabrina and Lana didn't take it well and their comments to Jonna made her visibly upset. She also thinks Aaron doesn't like her for convincing him to send Yellow. However, when Yellow came back, Jonna was the first person Sabrina hugged.

The following day, the contestants discussed about how Sabrina and Lana were being mean to Jonna the previous day. Sabrina said she apologized to Jonna though Jonna seemed to still be hurt by what she had said. In the Build A Pyramid mission, Blue once again worked well and won another mission. Since Green left behind two pieces, this increased Blue's total to 5, giving them the lead. When discussing who to give the Samadhi to, Jonna and Aaron seemed to be in agreement that Yellow was the obvious choice. Jonna informed Ashley of the decision, which made Ashley happy though she was concerned that Aaron might crack if Sabrina talked to him again. Regarding their trip, they choose to switch their trip from Africa to Green's trip to the Amazon, marking the only time a trip switch happened that season. After this, everyone was giving equipment to go diving. At the rock, was inquired about Sabrina's reaction to being sent to temple. Jonna claimed Sabrina did apology and that she forgave her. When it came time to pick a team to get the samadhi, they choose Yellow. However, JD gave them the option to remove the samadhi from play. Blue took it out to Yellow's relief (though Red didn't seem to thrilled). Jonna did express some regret the following morning. In Leap of Fate, the teams competed on even terms. Red was the first one out when Christian hit the bar. After a few more rounds, Sabrina also hit the bar, making Blue the winners and earning them a spot in the finals. This also meant that Yellow and Red would have to go to temple. Yellow ultimately won and would face Blue in the finals.

Jonna was confident that she was going to beat Yellow in the finale. Prior to the Don't Drop The Ball mission for Red team's piece, she decided to cover herself in Blue markings across her face and arms. At one point, Blue nearly lost it but recovered. However, they were starting to lose it again and this time they weren't able to recover and their ball fell into the water. This meant that Yellow got Red's piece, thus tying the game. Before JD informed the teams how the final showdown would work, he let them have time to reflect on there time on endurance. After an emotional afternoon, the teams got miniature pieces to use for the final trip to temple. After a brief lead, Blue found themselves done to 2 pieces. They however recovered and made gradually mentioned to win all of the pieces, thus becoming the first Endurance champions and won a trip to the Amazon Forests.

Portrayal and Relationships:[]

Jonna was shown to be a competitive, but fair contestant. She wanted to win, but wasn't willing to betray others to get ahead. When she sent up Green and Gray to the Temple of Fate, she cried a bit, because she didn't want to hurt other people's feelings.
