"You know that feeling when your mom tells you to come do a chore? I feel that way right now."
— Demian to Bryanah about Nicole in I'm Pulling for You

Animated and bilingual, Demian moved to the United States from Mexico at age 7. He says he's "not just a big meathead with lots of muscle," but he stands for what he says and never backs down on anything! Although he's usually the loud one, on "Endurance" he thinks it might be better to keep a low profile and fly under the radar.

Demian Martinez is a former contestant and finalist on Endurance 3: Hawaii. He competed alongside his partner Nicole Clark as the Orange Team.

Early Life[]

Demian was born in Mexico, and moved to the United States at 7 years old.

Endurance[]

During the Casting Special, none of Demian's audition tapes were shown. However, he was shown getting the call he got on Endurance while having pizza with his family.

In the Right to Stay, Demian was notable for jumping up and down the poles, knowing it would cause some of the others to lose their grip. Monroe was particularly upset at him doing this but he managed to hang on long enough for Tom and Brandon to drop (Marshall had already dropped), making both official contestants. In the partner selection, he caught the #1 ball, guaranteeing him the partner of his choosing. He noted that Chris could have easily gotten it instead but seemed to let Demian have it. He chose Nicole as his partner, bumping Kareem (and thus made him pair with Rachel) and becoming the Orange Team.

Demian noted that Nicole was willing to do anything to win and he was afraid that she was not keeping it on the down low. In Ring of Fire, because of Demian adjusting his grip, the Orange Team was the third team eliminated in the challenge. Purple eventually won the mission. At the rock, when asked who thought Yellow was the weakest team, Demian and Nicole, along with the members of the Purple, Gray and Red team say they agree. Despite this, Yellow was still given the samadhi by Purple. In Bagging on You, Yellow surprised everyone by getting their sandbags on their platform, the only ones to do it on the first throw. They choose to eliminate Orange. Demian and Nicole tried to encourage Brown and Red to eliminate Yellow when they had an opportunity to do so but they did not. This helped Yellow win the mission. Orange was selected to go to temple against Blue. In a confessional, Demian expressed doubts that he chose the right partner as he felt she was the reason he was sent to temple. Orange though won after picking water in the first two rounds, beating Blue's fire. Their return was celebrated by most though Yellow did not seem pleased.

The next day, Blue's elimination note revealed they were leaving their piece to Orange, tying them with Purple for first place with two. JD then revealed that day's mission would also be a temple mission. In Squaring Off, Orange got to go first. They started a cycle where they would place triangles on either Yellow, Green or Orange and then select Gray to go next (who in turn would pick Red who would then pick Purple). This was until Purple gave Yellow a turn. After Yellow, Green and Brown spent some time getting some payback to the PROG alliance, Nicole was able to convince Vanetta to get Brown to allow Orange to have another turn. This restarted the original cycle, eliminating Yellow, Green and Brown from the game. Later on, Orange eliminated Red and Purple. At that stage, Orange and Gray were one triangle away from being eliminated and thus Gray could choose the winner of the mission. Gray allowed Orange to win and they choose Yellow and Green to go to the temple, the latter being eliminated.

In their elimination letter, Green asked Demian to step up and not just do what Nicole says he should do (a remark Nicole was quite offended by). In Out on a Limb, the teams learned that the mission was not for a piece or samedhi but rather to divide the 6 teams into 2. Demian was the one holding the rope for his team (as all of the guys on the teams did). He outlasted Kareem and Tom but Demian was forced to let go after he crossed the side. Monroe was able to outlast Chris and Reece to win the mission, giving Yellow the power to make the superteams. Nicole instructs Demian to get close with Monroe in order to get a favourable placement for Orange though they argue when Demian stands up while she is talking (he insisted that he was going to do what she just told him to do). Demian admits when she starts yelling, he stops listening. Demian does not do this and instead advises Yellow to pair up with Gray and Purple, claiming that Nicole doesn't deserve to win and thus he won't try his hardest. He further claims that either Yellow, Gray or Purple deserves to win as he, Tom and Kareem have problems with their respective partners. Nicole attempts to get Yellow to put Orange and Gray together but Yellow doesn't buy her talk of an alliance. At the rock, JD inquiries about what Green said about Demian and he responds he is fine not stepping up as she takes the drama away from him. Yellow then announces that their superteam will include Gray and Purple. This left Orange paired with Red and Brown. In Bamboo Jungle, Demian was selected as the leader for his superteam. His superteam had difficulty, getting stuck at various points with Vanetta in particular moving quite slow while Demian tried to drag forward. This allowed the Yellow-Gray-Purple superteam to get a huge lead by the halfway point and easily win the mission. Similar to Tom's comments, Demian felt that Vanetta was the one that weighed their superteam down. While Yellow, Purple and Gray agreed to send Red to temple, they had difficulty on picking the other team as Yellow wanted to save Brown while the other too wanted to save Orange. Yellow eventually relents and Orange was spared from the temple.

Portrayal & Relationships[]

Demian was depicted as a calm contestant on E3, but tends to disagree with his teammate frequently. He didn't approve of her alliance-switching, meanness, and backstabbing, and sometimes wanted to sacrifice his team up to the Temple of Fate because he didn't believe Nicole deserved to win. Nicole believed Damien just does what annoys her, and tends to ignore what she says. Otherwise, he was a friendly contestant.

He was friends with Yellow Team, specifically with Bryanah, despite their rivalry with them gamewise. He played a much smaller role in the PROG alliance than Nicole did.

Quotes[]

  • "Nicole's a little cheerleader; she wants to be with the quarterbacks, and Chris and Reece are the quarterbacks."
  • "When [Nicole] starts yelling at me, I just don't listen to her."
  • "[Nicole]'s mean, and I don't like mean people."
  • "You know that feeling when your mom tells you to come do a chore? I feel that way right now." (to Bryanah)
  • "I want to win, but I don't think Nicole deserves to win."
  • "Orange Team is done!"
  • "When I first came here, I wanted to have fun, but then I had to go through so much drama and so much negativity. If I had to go back in time, I would, and get to know the girls a lot more, and maybe a less shallow choice on who my teammate is."

After Endurance[]

Demian was cast in The N's "Girls v. Boys: Puerto Rico".

Trivia[]

  • Nicole blamed Demian for their Out on a Limb loss and never made him forget it.
  • Demian's conflict with Nicole in I'm Pulling for You made the top ten moments from the first four seasons of Endurance.
  • Demian was the only contestant from the state of Nevada.
